xAI is testing a standalone iOS app for its Grok chatbot

Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, is testing a standalone iOS app for its chatbot, Grok, which was previously exclusive to X (formerly Twitter) users. The app, in beta in Australia and select countries, offers generative AI features like text rewriting, paragraph summarization, Q&A, and image generation from text prompts.

The app accesses real-time data from the web and X, aiming to be "truthful, useful, and curious." A dedicated website, Grok.com, is also in development to expand access, though it currently shows a "coming soon" message.

Initially available only to paying X subscribers, Grok introduced a free version in November and rolled it out to all users recently. Its image generator focuses on photorealistic rendering with fewer restrictions, allowing users to create images featuring public figures and copyrighted materials.
